The Adventures of Kazu and Kengo (2013)
This musical production (also known as This is how Ninjas say hi!) was a 10-minute piece which was presented at the Song season of Short+Sweet Festival 2013 and is a tale of how two ninjas save the day (or try to at least). Not once, not twice but thrice and all in under 10 minutes.
Produced by Oryza, this work was inspired by a small scene from Auckland Arts Festival 2013’s Walk.Eat.Talk project and featured composition and musical direction by Jun Bin Lee, direction by Gerald Urquhart and featured a cast of talented Japanese performers includiing Kazuhide Shaun Okuda, Kengo Hosaka & Hiroshi Nakatsuji.
The Adventures of Kazu and Kengo stood out at the Short+Sweet Festival as a comedic, musical, Asian creatives led work that went on to win People’s Choice award and Best Overall Award.
